Jeep Compass Review: Everything You Need To KnowÂ
Expanding the brand's global reach, the new Jeep Compass from River Oaks Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram, is unmatched in its abilities including legendary and best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability. Utilizing advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, the Compass manages to make itself known everywhere. As such, Jeep builds this Compass in factories located in Brazil, Mexico, China and India, for export to the World.
The Jeep Compass features the trademark seven slot grille, and a profile that makes it look like "honey, I've shrunken the Grand Cherokee." There are 25 global combinations of powertrains suited specifically for individual world markets.Â
For North America, Compass models are powered by a fuel-efficient 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine that delivers 32 miles-per-gallon, and best-in-class 4x4 fuel economy of 31 mpg highway. There's also a choice of three transmissions including a class-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission for 4x4 models, a six-speed automatic transmission for 4x2 models, and a six-speed manual transmission for either 4x2 or 4x4 models.
Jeep Compass is available in four flavors ranging from the base Sport model, stepping up to Latitude and Limited versions. If your tastes run more toward the off-road side of the spectrum, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk has you covered. Trailhawk features a best-in-class 4x4 Trail rating with standard Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4, an increased ride height of almost one inch, skid plates and red Jeep signature front and rear tow hooks.
The Compass also has a 30-degree approach angle, 24-degree breakover angle and a 34-degree departure angle. Jeep's Hill-descent control allows the compass to creep down the side of a hill or mountain, without the driver needing to apply the brakes. Oh, Jeep also managed to stuff the Compass with 19 inches of water fording and up to 2,000 pounds of towing capacity.
Inside, the Compass features the latest in interior comforts including comfortable seating and well laid out controls. The new 8.4 Uconnect infotainment system offers the largest display in the segment and is customizable so you can place only the features you use on the home screen. In the "way-back" the cargo area offers 27 cubic feet behind the second row, and expands to 60 cubic feet when the second row seats are folded forward.
There are so many different ways to configure your new Jeep Compass. The only question you need to ask is "where do we get started?" That's where we come in! Browse our inventory and then call the Jeep Compass product specialists at River Oaks Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram for a test drive today!
