When it comes down to performance, the new Jeep Compass is the winner. Underneath the hood, the new Jeep Compass pulls ahead with a 200 horsepower 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Engine with Stop/Start that gets up to 221 pound-feet of torque. On the flip side, the new Kia Sportage comes standard with a fuel-efficient 187 horsepower 2.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder engine that can get up to 178 lb.-ft. of torque. In short this is important if you care about climbing up steep hills, or maneuvering through traffic on the highway.
If you're serious about utility, the Jeep Compass has a fully-functional design. And while the new Kia Sportage is remarkably stunning, it doesn't offer:

When it comes down to tech, the new Kia Sportage is the leader. The Kia Sportage comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and the Jeep Compass comes standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.
As far as comfort goes, the new Jeep Compass has slight edge over the Kia Sportage. The Jeep Compass comes standard with power heated front row seats, a power heated steering wheel, and 41.8-inches legroom in the front. The Kia Sportage on the other hand offers power heated seats as an option and has 41.4-inches of legroom in the front row.
Another key thing to consider is that the Jeep Compass has more premium upholstery options. For instance, the new Jeep Compass comes available with Premium Cloth/Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats, Leatherette Seats, and Premium Cloth Vinyl Bucket Seats. The Kia Sportage offers Cloth, Syntex, and Premium Syntex seats.
In short, if you're looking for more comfort. the new Jeep Compass is an excellent choice. However, if you're looking for more tech and more cargo room, the Kia Sportage is an ideal option.
