The latest small SUV from Dodge is the new Dodge Hornet is available now and can be found at Napleton's River Oaks Dodge. This small SUV will be available in two trim levels beginning with the Hornet R/T and the Hornet GT.

Each version of the new Dodge Hornet features an exclusive powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. The base Hornet GT is powered by a turbocharged 268 horsepower inline four-cylinder engine and 9-speed automatic transmission. The more powerful of the two, the 285 horsepower Hornet R/T PHEV features a hybrid 1.3-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor-generator. It sends power to the pavement via a six-speed automatic transmission. This combo is good for up to 30 electric miles of charge before reverting to gasoline power.

In PHEV form, the powertrain can temporarily provide a 25-hp boost through Dodge's PowerShot mode. Tug both paddle shift levers, to see the Hornet R/T sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

As equipped, The Hornet R/T PHEV will be Dodge's first hybrid vehicle. Besides the PHEV system, it will include automated driver assists, digital driver display, emergency braking and the award-winning Uconnect 5 infotainment system. But wait, there's more: The Hornet includes a pedestrian and cyclist detection system. This helps reveal people and animals at night on a dark road.

Smaller than its big brother Dodge Durango, the Hornet faces a wide variety of competitors. Still, it's up to the task. It begins with sleek lines and a strong grille. That leads up to a sculpted and scooped hood, elegant, stylized running lights and broad shoulders. They lead to the rear and wrap around to form a perfect return from the tailgate.
